CeMAP training courses are the courses a person undertakes to become a mortgage advisor recognised by the Financial Services Authority. CeMAP is an acronym for Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice and is an industry recognised qualification for mortgage advisors. To gain the qualification a person must pass three exams, and CeMAP training courses are specifically designed to give a person the knowledge necessary to not only pass these exams but to also become a successful professional mortgage advisor.
CeMAP training courses are designed in two different ways depending upon the needs of the students taking the courses. The first and most popular CeMAP training courses are designed for students who have no previous knowledge or experience of the mortgage industry while the second type of course is designed for people who are working in the industry. (These courses are not nearly as detailed as they are generally a very short course just designed to fill any gaps the students may have in their knowledge and allow them to sit and pass the exams in the shortest amount of time possible.)
The importance of a student ensuring they are enrolling in the appropriate CeMAP training courses for their needs and skill levels cannot be overstated.
In this article we will discuss what is involved in participating in CeMAP training courses that are designed for newcomers to the industry. The course will cover three individual subject areas these being: UK Financial Regulation, Mortgages and Assessment of Mortgage Advice Knowledge. Each of these subject areas correlate to one of the three exams that must be passed to obtain your qualification. The final exams must be passed with a minimum mark of 70% and reputable CeMAP training courses will ensure through a series of practice exams that you are prepared to sit the exam and able to meet this pass mark. (If you do not meet the minimum pass requirements you will be able to take the exam again – think of it in a similar manner to a driving test.)
CeMAP training courses that are designed for new comers to the industry are designed to ensure that you not only pass the exams but that you have all of the knowledge you will need to start confidently practicing as a professional mortgage advisor. Once you have successfully passed the exams you will be able to work either for yourself as an independent mortgage advisor or in many different companies within the financial services industry or real estate industry. CeMAP training courses are one of the only professional qualification courses that culminate in you having this degree of freedom when you first qualify.
The successful completion of CeMAP training courses will equip the student with an industry recognised and respected qualification, which will allow you to obtain employment or commence self employment as a professional mortgage advisor. Anyone who is considering a career change and is interested in becoming a mortgage advisor is strongly advised to consider enrolling in CeMAP training courses as the first step towards their new career.
