The 3 parts to the CeMAP Training Course

The Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice (CeMAP) is what enables an individual to become a mortgage advisor. Without this qualification, a person can not offer public advice regarding mortgages.  The CeMAP helps protect consumers by making sure that the professionals offering mortgage advice understand the workings of a good mortgage agreement. Certifications show a level of professional development and the CeMAP is just one certification that can help consumers decide.

Because the mortgages can be difficult to fathom for the regular person, the advice of qualified professionals is essential. The CeMAP certification helps determine which individuals are capable of providing sensible financial advice.

The CeMAP, administered by the Institute of Financial Services comes in three parts. The first part, said to be most difficult involves a broad spectrum of topics on the industry. The first part is difficult because of the amount of terminology that the student must understand. The second exam covers mortgages. The third paper involves mortgage assessment and is the practical application of the second paper.

The first step to earning a CeMAP qualification is by signing up for a CeMAP Training course.  When you sign up for a CeMAP Training course you are effectively opening up opportunities for yourself to become part of the mortgage industry not just as a mortgae advisor but also in the other areas of the business. A good CeMAP Training course will give you a wealth of knowledge and technical skills which are essential when you want to work in the financial services industry.

There are plenty of institutions offering CeMAP courses. Make sure to choose the best one not based on the rates that they charge student but on the course syllabus. If you are completely new to the industry you will need a more comprehensive course that will teach you the ropes of the industry.  Different programs have different course curricula but the most common topics taught are: Mortgage regulation, mortgage laws and practice, mortgage payment methods, mortgage arrears, and others. Your choice of program will depend on how much knowledge and experience you already have in the mortgage industry. The more experience you have in the industry the shorter time you need to prepare for the CeMAP qualifiers and also the less intensive training you need.

There are classroom-type training programs and there are also home-based programs. A classroom-type program involves attending regular training sessions at a training facility. A home-based program involves studying at home with the materials provided by the training center such as DVDs, audio CDs, books, and others. The length of the training program also varies for different training centers.

Considering that being a mortgage advisor pays well, the money and time spent on a CeMAP training course is a worthy investment. It can help a person break into the mortgage industry and become a successful mortgage advisor. The CeMAP training course helps an individual understand everything about mortgages making him prepared to take on the challenges involved in this kind of career.
