CeMAP training is the process of taking a course to teach you all you need to know to become a mortgage advisor. CeMAP training is necessary for most people (especially those with no previous experience in the financial services or mortgage industries) to be able to pass the compulsory exams that complete your qualification. Once you have passed the exams you will be recognised as a mortgage advisor by the Financial Services Agency and will be able to place the letters CeMAP after your name.
CeMAP training generally consists of completing a course that is designed to fully instruct you in all of the knowledge you will need to not only pass the exams but to be able work efficiently, effectively, confidently and professionally in your new profession. CeMAP training is designed to fully instruct people who are new to the financial services industry and the courses are written and conducted with your limited knowledge and or experience taken into account. (There are however, some courses that are specifically designed for people who have financial services industry experience and knowledge to quickly acquire the necessary knowledge to pass the exams. Be careful when choosing a course and course provider to ensure you are enrolling in a CeMAP training course that is designed for your knowledge and experience level.)
When you enrol in a CeMAP training course you will be taught three individual units of study relating to the compulsory final exams, these units of study are: UK Financial Regulation, Mortgages and Assessment of Mortgage Advice Knowledge. These units are comprehensive and will teach you all you need to know to become an effective professional mortgage advisor. The three final exams which the Financial Services Agency require that you pass to be recognised by them as a mortgage advisor all relate to one of these units of study.
The modern financial services industry in this country is growing as consumer demand for informed and professional mortgage advice is rapidly expanding. There is a huge shortage of professional mortgage advisors, and there are numerous positions available for those people who have successfully completed CeMAP training. Once you have qualified you will be able to find a position either as an employee at with a traditional lending institution, other mortgage provider or an estate agency or you will be able to open your own business as an independent mortgage advisor.
