While thousands if not millions of mortgage, accountancy, and loan professionals have passed the CeMAP exams, they will all tell you that it wasn’t easy and it takes a great deal of work to get your CeMAP. Furthermore, proper CeMAP training is about more than retaining information just long enough to pass an exam, it’s about preparing yourself for your future career. There are several different ways to go about your CeMAP training. First and foremost you will want to take CeMAP exam preparation courses. These courses will be crucial to your ability to pass the exams. They cover more than just the basics of CeMAP; they ensure a comprehensive understanding of even the more advanced concepts and material. While the main goal is to pass the exams, your long-term goal should be to gain confidence in yourself, your knowledge, and your ability to do your job once you have completed CeMAP training.
There are two basic course types: on-site and at-home. They differ in format but ultimately cover the same material. You must choose the CeMAP training program that best suits you. On-site courses are typically split into sections covering each exam. While these CeMAP courses yield higher exam pass rate results, they are also demand that you invest significant time and money. Each section of live CeMAP training programs usually runs for four or five days. The work is intensive with the idea being that a saturation of information will stick better than sporadic lessons. You will be taught by an industry professional and will complete a battery of reading exercises, quizzes, and pre-tests. As a class and as an individual you will be expected to review previous CeMAP questions and then will monitor your retention at the end and beginning of each day. Many people learn better with this form of CeMAP training because of the variety of learning tools and the hands-on assistance provided by instructors.
The other CeMAP course option is self-study. Many CeMAP training services offer home courses that are supplemented with expansive study guides and even software. You cover the same material as on-site CeMAP courses but at your own pace. These courses do their best to provide you with ample resources to teach yourself, but they do require a great deal more self-motivation and persistent attention to detail. If you choose an at-home form of CeMAP training, you should invest the same amount of study time as you would in a live course, if not more. This course style just allows you to schedule your training as it is convenient.
It is important to note that the CeMAP only require a 70% score on each exam, but your CeMAP training shouldn’t be focused on the bare minimum. For each increase of 10% in your score you stand to gain an additional merit. This recognition is invaluable when you are promoting your services, whether it is to a future employer or a future client. Your CeMAP training should help you to attain more than your CeMAP; it should help you to attain excellence.
