CeMAP training is essential if a person wants to become a practicing mortgage advisor. There are many organisations that provide CeMAP training and if you do your research and choose a reputable course provider that offers a course appropriate to your needs, you will be able to gain your qualification and start on your adventure in a new, exciting and rewarding career.
CeMAP, or Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice, is a compulsory qualification required to be recognised by the Institute of Financial Services as a mortgage advisor. This recognised qualification will allow you to work as an independent mortgage advisor or to take a position with employers as varied as banks, building societies, mortgage brokerages and other mortgage providers through to real estate agencies.
CeMAP training is offered by several different organisations in different formats. It is possible to study a CeMAP training course as a home based course, or by attending intensive classes. (One thing to note is that some of the intensive classes are aimed at people who are already employed in the financial sector, or who already have a knowledge of mortgages and finance. These classes are basically “refresher courses” to allow those who already have a substantial knowledge of the subject to sit and pass the exams as quickly as possible.) However, most CeMAP training courses offer in-depth education for the lay person so that they can gain the qualification necessary to enter the financial industry as mortgage advisors.
A good reputable CeMAP training course will provide you with all of the knowledge and skills necessary to confidently, skilfully, knowledgeably and successfully commence your new career.
CeMAP training takes dedication and determination to learn the course material in order to successfully sit and pass the final exams. These exams are held at the completion of the three modules that make up the CeMAP training course. The three module titles are UK Financial Regulations, Mortgages and Assessment of Mortgage Advice Knowledge. The module titles are broadly self explanatory of the subject matter that a student will cover in the CeMAP training. The minimum passing mark for the examinations is 70%; however the exams can be resat if you do not achieve the passing mark.
Most Providers of CeMAP training assign several trial exams to their students as part of the training so that any deficits in the student’s knowledge can be assessed and redressed. Any subject matter that the students have not quite mastered will show in the trial exams, so that extra tuition and study can be carried out in that particular area ensuring the student has full and expert knowledge of all subject areas at the end of CeMAP training.
The trial exams also allow students to get used to sitting exams and thus alleviates the nerves most people have in exam situations. The familiarity gained of both exam conditions and the student’s confidence in their knowledge of the subject through the CeMAP training practice exams will ensure confidence even in those people who have not sat an exam since leaving school.
